Heavy Duty Mobile Metal Workbench with Undershelf

Introduction

We were approached by Simon from Goldman Harrison Wood Floors as he was looking for a new Bench for his workshop.

Goldman Harrison Wood Floors specialises in the supply and installation of high-quality hardwood flooring. They have been working with Interior Designers, Architects, Building Contractors and Homeowners since 1999, so they know a thing or two about flooring.

Their aim is to give each of their Customers a fully bespoke, tailor-made service from the initial site visit right through to the finished floor, providing them with exceptional workmanship and with their eye for detail being second-to-none.

The Challenge

Simon’s challenge was… they were on the Isle of Wight, and were Rhino able to help with that? He had shippers that he had previously used, and was it possible to send them in to collect the bench from us?

Absolutely no problem at all, Rhino were very happy to help. We also offered to put it on a pallet to make the shipping easier and supply all the dimensions and weight ahead of time to make sure the whole process went as smoothly as possible for him.

Simon needed a bench that was large enough and sturdy enough for him to work on when he is making and staining threshold mouldings and other trims. He also required an undershelf so that, effectively, he could have a fitted-out workstation with all his tools and stains available all in the same place and close at hand.

His second challenge was that he had a small doorframe. Ideally, he would prefer a 2440mm x 1220mm bench, which would give him the extra workspace to fit the larger mouldings on, but due to the small doorframe, he may have to choose the smaller 2M x 1M, so that he was sure it would fit.

The Solution

Out of the quite extensive range of Rhino’s Benches, the Rhino Heavy Duty Mobile Workbench would certainly be a good choice for him. The heavy-duty steel frames are both durable and built to last, having a UDL of 800kg. Although there are options to suit all, the tops ranging from Melamine to the heavy duty Trespa ® High Pressure Laminate, it was thought that the standard 18mm MDF tops would suffice for his needs.

They were also fitted with Heavy Duty lockable castors, which would give him the flexibility to move it safely to other areas in his workspace, and with the bonus that he was able to have an undershelf that he really did need.

Rhino had also prepared a document for him with more measurements and tilting angles in the hopes that, if rejigged, it may be possible to get the larger 2440mm x 1220mm through his doorway. It would, and he was delighted.

The Bench was made ready for collection on its pallet, was picked up promptly and in a couple of days had arrived on site.

We received notification that the careful planning had worked and the bench, tilted as per the drawings, had managed to get through the tight doorway. No sooner than it arrived, the undershelf was loaded with trims, stains and equipment, and it was now ready to help make the next bespoke flooring project, just that little bit easier.
