Introducing Jake – The Story Behind Our Leadership
Jake Douglass joined the family business in 2003, progressing through Sales and Marketing leadership roles before becoming Managing Director in 2009. Since taking ownership of the Rhino brand in 2018, he has led its growth into the UK’s leading supplier of performance cutting and workspace protection mats.
Over the years, Jake has built trusted relationships with organisations across the automotive, aerospace, defence, and advanced manufacturing sectors, developing a strong understanding of the operational demands faced by high-performance industries.
Reflecting on what drives him, Jake says: “What motivates me most is working closely with people and helping customers find practical solutions to challenges they may not have encountered before. For many businesses, performance workstation mats are unfamiliar territory, so being able to guide them and deliver measurable improvements is incredibly rewarding. I’m continually impressed by the impact our products can have. Something as simple as a cutting or workbench protection mat can significantly improve productivity, protect equipment, and enhance operator safety — benefits that quickly make a real difference on the shop floor.”

Historically many of our core products are based around PVC, which has meant we’ve taken time to innovate and promote new materials and schemes to build a sustainable greener future.

We’re passionate about our corporate social responsibility and proud to give ongoing support to the Save the Rhino organisation.
Save the Rhino do fantastic work in the protection of rhinos in the wild through funding rangers, rhino care programs and reducing illegal rhino horn trade.
Every donation we make, 87p for every £1 donated is spent directly on saving these precious animals!
