From Trial to Facility-Wide Standardisation

From the first conversation through to facility-wide standardisation, our approach is designed to help you identify, evaluate and implement the right cutting and workbench protection solution for your working environment.

Whether you need to protect a single workstation or standardise surfaces across multiple facilities, our specialist team can support you at every stage.

1. ENQUIRY

Tell us about your application

Every requirement starts with understanding what you’re trying to achieve. You may be looking to protect new workbenches, refurbish damaged surfaces, improve a cutting process or find a specialist surface for a particular application.

Tell us about your workstations, processes and current challenges and we’ll help you explore the options available. You don’t need to know which Rhino product you need – that’s where our specialist knowledge comes in.

2. SAMPLES

See, feel and compare the materials

Choosing an engineered work surface from a photograph or technical specification isn’t always easy, which is why we offer a FREE Rhino Sample Pack containing a selection of our cutting and workbench protection materials.

This allows your engineers, operators, production teams and facilities managers to physically compare different materials, thicknesses and finishes.

For more detailed evaluation, we can also provide larger samples for testing in your own environment.

3. CONSULTATION

Let’s find the right solution

Our role isn’t simply to sell you a mat. We want to understand how the surface will actually be used.

We’ll discuss factors such as the processes being carried out, materials being handled, cutting requirements, cleaning, chemicals, ESD requirements, heat, surface finish and the level of protection required.

For larger or more complex projects, we can arrange a site visit or welcome your team to the Rhino Innovation Centre, where you can see and compare our complete range of solutions.

4. QUOTATION

A solution tailored to your requirements

Once we understand the application, we’ll provide a clear quotation based on the recommended material, dimensions, quantities and specification.

Because many Rhino products can be manufactured to bespoke sizes, your solution doesn’t necessarily have to be dictated by standard mat dimensions. We can manufacture surfaces to suit individual benches, large workstations and specialist applications.

Where required, we can also incorporate bespoke features such as apertures, holes, radius corners and CNC-machined details.

5. REVIEW

Refine the specification

Before moving forward, we’ll work with you to review the proposed solution and make sure it meets the requirements of the people who will actually be using it.

This may involve changing the material, dimensions, thickness, finish or other aspects of the specification.

For larger projects, this stage can involve input from production, engineering, facilities, health & safety, procurement and workstation operators.

The objective is simple: get the solution right before wider implementation.

6. TRIAL

Prove it in the real working environment

For many industrial applications, the best test is a real one.

Rather than committing immediately to a large rollout, customers can start with a larger evaluation sample or a full-size mat on an individual workstation.

Operators can then assess factors such as cutting performance, durability, cleaning, comfort, stability and general suitability during normal day-to-day operations.

A successful trial provides real-world evidence before a larger investment is made.

7. FINAL REVIEW

Turn trial feedback into the final solution

Following the trial, we’ll review the results with your team.

What worked well? Is anything worth changing? Do the dimensions need adjusting? Would another material or specification perform better?

Operator feedback can be particularly valuable at this stage.

Once everyone is satisfied, we can finalise the specification ready for wider implementation – giving you confidence that the solution has already been proven within your own working environment.

8. ORDER CONFIRMATION

Everything checked before we manufacture

Once the final solution has been agreed, we’ll confirm the complete order specification.

Dimensions, quantities, materials, colours, machining requirements and other bespoke details can all be checked before production begins.

For larger rollouts, different workstation sizes or specifications can also be coordinated as part of the same project.

This helps ensure what arrives on site is exactly what has been agreed.

9. PRODUCTION

Converted in-house to your specification

Rhino combines specialist product knowledge with in-house converting and manufacturing capability.

Depending on the product and application, mats can be cut to size or manufactured with bespoke features to suit the workstation.

Our large-format CNC capability also allows us to produce more complex solutions incorporating radius corners, apertures, holes, cut-outs, shapes and other precision-machined features.

This gives customers considerably more flexibility than simply selecting from standard off-the-shelf sizes.

10. DELIVERY

Carefully prepared and delivered to your facility

Once production is complete, your order is checked, carefully packed and prepared for delivery.

Whether you’re protecting a single workstation or rolling out surfaces across an entire department, we’ll work with you to make the delivery process as straightforward as possible.

For larger projects and multi-site requirements, deliveries can be coordinated around your implementation programme.

11. IMPLEMENTATION

Put your new work surfaces into action

Once delivered, the new surfaces can be introduced into the selected working areas.

Most Rhino workbench protection mats are designed to be straightforward to implement without permanently modifying the workstation, helping minimise disruption to production.

This is where the benefits become tangible – protecting valuable bench tops, creating consistent working surfaces and helping support cleaner, safer and better organised workstations.

12. ONGOING SUPPORT

A long-term surface protection partner

Our involvement doesn’t have to finish when the first order is delivered.

As requirements change, new workstations are introduced or existing surfaces eventually need replacing, Rhino remains available to provide product and application support.

We can also help with new departments, unusual applications, bespoke requirements and future workstation projects.

The aim is to become a long-term specialist resource for your organisation rather than simply a one-off supplier.

13. STANDARDISE & EXPAND

From one successful workstation to a company-wide standard

A successful trial on one workstation can often highlight opportunities elsewhere within an organisation.

The same solution may subsequently be introduced across a production area, department or entire facility.

For larger organisations, a proven surface specification can also be replicated across additional locations, helping create greater consistency in workstation protection, procurement and working practices.

Over time, a Rhino solution can progress from:

Sample → Trial → Workstation → Department → Facility → Multi-Site Standard

That’s ultimately what the Rhino Worksurface Journey is designed to achieve – helping organisations move from identifying an individual surface requirement to creating smarter, safer, cleaner workstations throughout their operations.
