How to Choose Your Size

Choosing the right workbench protection mat size ensures maximum surface coverage, a professional finish, and optimal protection for your workspace. Whether you're ordering a standard size or requesting a custom cut, here’s what you need to know:

Typical Sizes for Common Workbenches

To help you get started, here are some popular mat sizes suited to standard bench dimensions:

Bench Type Recommended Mat Size
Small hobby bench (800mm wide) 800mm x 600mm
Standard packing bench 1200mm x 900mm
Double bench or island station 1500mm x 1000mm
Large industrial workbench 1800mm x 1200mm

If your bench size isn’t listed, don’t worry — we can cut your mat to your exact specifications.

Measuring & Ordering a Custom Cut

We offer custom-sized mats to fit your unique workspace. Follow these simple steps to order:

  1. Measure your workbench
Use a tape measure to determine the exact width and depth of the surface area you wish to cover. Be sure to account for any lips, overhangs or insets.

  2. Decide on fit

    • Edge-to-edge fit for full coverage

    • Inset fit if your mat needs to sit inside a raised border

    • Overhang fit if you want a slight mat overhang for tool clearance

  3. Request a custom quote
Enter your dimensions at checkout or get in touch with our team for a personalised quote and advice. We’ll cut your mat with precision and dispatch it promptly.

Which Thickness Should You Choose?

Our mats come in a variety of thicknesses to suit different types of tasks and usage levels:

  • 2mm – 3mm: Ideal for light craft work, packaging stations, and desks. Thin, flexible, and easy to store.

  • 4mm – 5mm: Best for general-purpose industrial workbenches. Provides a balance of durability and manoeuvrability.

  • 6mm – 7mm: Suitable for heavy-duty cutting, high-wear environments, or high-impact use.

  • 10mm+: Maximum durability for demanding workshops, repetitive mechanical work, or protection from dropped tools.

If you're unsure which thickness is best, feel free to request a free material sample to test before placing a full order.
