Introduction
Rhino were proud to supply JOTA Composites, a specialist composite manufacturer operating from a state-of-the-art facility in West Oxfordshire.
JOTA manufacture complex composite components using materials including carbon fibre and aramids, supporting demanding industries such as motorsport, automotive, defence and marine where precision, quality and attention to detail are critical.
As part of their manufacturing environment, JOTA selected our Rhino Supaseal Grey Mats to provide a practical cutting and protective surface across a number of their composite workstations.
The Challenge
Composite manufacturing places particular demands on the working surface.
Workbenches need to provide a clean, consistent area for preparing, handling and trimming composite materials, while also protecting both the underlying workstation and the components being worked on.
With carbon fibre and other finished composite parts potentially susceptible to scratches and surface damage, a hard or damaged bench surface isn’t always ideal. At the same time, operators need a stable surface suitable for day-to-day cutting and preparation work.
For a modern composites facility such as JOTA’s, the workstations also needed to maintain the smart, professional appearance of the wider manufacturing environment.
The Rhino Supaseal Grey proved an excellent solution for JOTA’s composite workstations.
At 5mm thick, its soft but dense construction provides a protective layer between components and the underlying bench, while also creating a durable surface suitable for cutting, trimming and general preparation work.
The material offers good self-healing and non-slip properties, helping operators work directly on the surface while protecting the workstation underneath. Its waterproof, easy-clean construction also makes it particularly suited to busy manufacturing environments.
The solid grey finish creates a clean and consistent appearance across the workstations and complements JOTA’s modern facility particularly well, as can be seen in the installation pictured.
Because Supaseal can be supplied in bespoke sizes, mats can also be manufactured to suit individual benches and workstations rather than requiring customers to adapt their workspace around standard mat dimensions.
This installation at JOTA Composites is another great example of how a relatively simple workstation upgrade can provide surface protection, a dedicated cutting area and a cleaner, more professional working environment within advanced manufacturing and composite production.
